(Solved)Screen dims on AC power

Postby gremlin on Wed Feb 25, 2009 10:19 pm

Hello

Love Mint. I used Ubuntu for quite a while, but recently I discovered an older laptop and thought that Mint would work great with Fluxbox. But I have an issue. When plugged in to AC power, my screen dims, and when on battery power, it is fully bright. I've tried power management with no avail.

Thanks.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

This PC does the same. It is to do with the screen saver / power mngmnt.
after a while - on the screen saver - the screen turns off. The time needs to be adjusted to 'never'.

I may be mistaken but I believe that is a different problem.

What happens here in more detail is that while my laptop battery is out, and I am running solely on AC power, my screen is dim. However, when I put in the battery and remove the power cord, so I am running off the battery, it is bright. This is completely opposite to what normally occurs with laptops. Screens typically dim on battery power to reduce power usage. It should be its brightest on AC power.

Hopefully that clears my issue up.

Sorry for the confusion.

Alright

I found out the issue. For some reason, the keys that should have adjusted my brightness were mapped wrong. Therefor when I would go to use them, it would not work. I remapped them, and everything is now fine.

Thanks.
