system freeze

Postby eddie on Tue Mar 03, 2009 11:16 pm

Inserted a cd-r that was full of camera pics--system froze,no cursor no keyboard response.
Waited 10-15 mins but still no go-resorted to reset switch on PC. After this I was unable to complete the boot process--message on screen asking for administrator pass word to continue.

Ended up re-installing and using live disk to delete most of the dot files then went ahead without reformatting /home. Success!

This time I have enabled Admin Password!

Anyone else suffered this problem or know of possible cause??

No idea - was it only photos on the disk?
If so nothing in particular should have happened

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
