help with VGA card

Postby Ghost M.D on Sun Mar 08, 2009 1:02 pm

Hi all

I install mint from old CD which means old kernel

I had problem with my VGA card because it has no driver

I wrote lspci in terminal to know the VGA card

my VGA is this

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)

I search for a diver & I found this

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=1044&OSFullName=Linux*&lang=eng&strOSs=39&submit=Go!

I download the second

after that I try to install it but it said it wants the last kernel

I wrote sudo apt-get upgrade & install the new kernel

I re-try but it said the same thing again

so what can I do to run the new kernel in terminal ((that by the way what I think it is the problem))...?

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

There is always an Intel driver on the live CD
With a few exceptions (this is not one of them) you never have to get a new driver for Intel

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
