can't find cd/ dvd drive

Postby dcbrouwer on Wed Mar 25, 2009 9:18 am

I just installed Linux mint yesterday but what ever i try to do i can not find my cd/ dvd drive.
if i go to "computer" there are 3 pictograms: 123,9 gb media - recovery - filesystem, but no cd drive.
and if i put a music cd or a dvd nothing happens, i can hear the drive make some noise that it starts to start up.
i have also windows vista installed on my sony vaio vgn-ns21z laptop and it works fine under vista.
if you can help that would be great!

Thanks allot,

David

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

dcbrouwer,

Type /etc/fstab in the url window of your browser and post what comes up on your screen.

This is what it says,

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
# /dev/sda5
UUID=74b89d6a-39c2-47fe-ace6-3696a7cd03a3 / ext3 relatime,errors=remount-ro 0 1
# /dev/sda6
UUID=0dc67935-ee0e-41bc-9f3a-eda4657cb86f none swap sw 0 0
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto,exec,utf8 0 0
