WPCi810g wireless adapter not detected

Postby Nexxus on Sun Mar 29, 2009 8:36 am

Helo,
So I use a wireless adapter to connect to the internet, and when I installed Linux, the drivers for the wireless adapter were not installed. So I couldn't use the internet on Linux, unless I had an ethernet cable plugged in - which is inconvenient. The wireless adapter is Motorola brand, called WPCi810g.

Here's da link:

So I lost the CD:

The main way I use to install the wireless adapter on a windows system is by using an .exe installation package, but apparently, I cannot do that on Linux... so anyone have any ideas on how to get the drivers for this wireless adapter so I can get it up and running?

Thanks.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Hi

Your wireless connector has a broadcom chip and so the following should work for you.

Okay, so you have a Broadcom wireless card.

do
sudo apt-get update

while still connected to router with ethernet cable

then go Menu --> Administration --> Hardware Drivers

You should see an option for Broadcom. Select and install.
Then you should be able to connect without cable =)

Hope this helps.
