Only 2.7 GB RAM detected out of 4+ GB in Bios & MainBoard

Hello folks !

Thank you for reading me.

General informations :
$ uname -r 2.6.27-14-generic

Cpu : AMD64 3200+ (Core Venice)

Release Felicia X_64

Here is my problem :

I have 4 memory slots filled on Main Board with 1 Gb each.
The memory system is 'dual-channel' on this Main-board (Asus a8n-SLI Deluxe)

The problem is that it seems that only 2.7 Gb are considered as Ram by the system (the system monitor gives 2.7 Gb in the 'resources Tab' ).

At the beginning of the boot sequence i get this message : 'Aperture beyond 4 Gb, Ignoring'.

I would like to get the whole amount of memory available on the system.
I couldn't find any 'bigmem' precompiled kernel on the regular repositories.
I read that one could give special option the the kernel on max memory.
Compiling the kernel from sources is far to risky for my level of knowledge.

Could someone help me solve this properly please ?

Thank you in advance.

This is a very confusing post
The subject line is
Only 2.7 GB RAM detected out of 4+ GB in Bios & MainBoard

Well if that's the case it's time for you to return the board to the seller and demand one that is not faulty
Then you say
I couldn't find any 'bigmem' precompiled kernel on the regular repositories.

You claim to have Felicia 64 bit......
The somewhat ominous message
'Aperture beyond 4 Gb, Ignoring
is there on my system with 2 GB as well, and my 64 bit Felicia works quite well - I think we can ignore it

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
