Disabling on board sound card?

Postby AnthonyR on Wed Apr 01, 2009 11:08 pm

I have a thinkpad T30 and I fried something in my soundcard or the output jack by plugging in the wrong power adapter (fail...). It is still recognized and the computer doesn't notice anything wrong with it but nothing comes out of the output jack. the Mic jack still works. So anyway, I bought a usb sound card (turtle beach) which works fine in mint (thanks to pulseaudio) (actually much better than in windows even) but I want to either disable the old sound card, or figure out a way to set the usb card to default in pulseaudio, even after I unplug it and plug it back in. I'd rather just disable the old one because some programs always assume to use it even when the usb one is set to default. There is no option to do this in BIOS and from what i have heard, there is no really easy way to do it in mint. Any advice?
