External DVD burner problems

Hello everyone,

I just got a USB DVD burner, since the one on my laptop is kaput. Since I'm a newbie, I didn't stop and think to check and buy a model that someone else had used before under Linux, so I'm having some issues.

The drive appears under 'Computer', as CD-RW/DVD+/-RW Drive. When I double click it, I get an error message saying "Unable to mount location: Can't mount file".

Any thoughts?

It says that when there is no media, or the media is not formatted

try writing a small ISO in RAW mode

Hey. I'm in the middle of burning some stuff using Brasero. It seems to be working. Thanks for the help!
