sound card issue

I recently just pulled a computer out of my closet that still works pretty well. After dusting off the hardware and making sure everything plugs in i installed windows and then linux mint. For some reason linux mint wont read my Philips PSC703 sound card and im not really sure why. Does anyone know why it wouldnt and if there is a way to fix it?

If you google for your soundcard there are very few hits and nothing useful for linux
How old is that computer?
Brand? (Dell?)

its probably from around 2001 its a home built computer, so there is no real specifics amd chipset, nvidia graphics card, phillips sound card, etc. so yall i wouldnt worry bout it i gave up after hours of dickering. Its just somethin i thought i might try, thanks for the help.
