can't get shmconfig to work

Postby infamous on Thu Apr 16, 2009 2:32 pm

I've been trying to config my touchpad to disable while I type but have been unsuccessful. I'm using Mint 6 main. Heres the policy I have created in /etc/hal/fdi/policy/schmconfig.fdi

<deviceinfo version="0.2">
<device>
<match key="input.x11_driver" string="synaptics">
<merge key="input.x11_options.SHMConfig" type="string">True</merge>
</match>
</device>
</deviceinfo>

BUT when I try to launch syndaemon or several other applications for configuring the touchpad I get a message telling me to enable shmconfig. I followed the Ubuntu wiki to create this policy so please do not link that wiki page, I have already gone through it.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

schmconfig.fdi shouldn't that be shmconfig.fdi?
Save and close that file, reboot, and SHMConfig should be enabled.

I have also done things according to that wikipage and it worked after reboot... Maybe didn't you forget to add the first line?
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
And did you have that file there already or did you have to create it?

...but actually even if I activated SHMconfig, touchpad does not work. Of course I have enabled it in Mouse and Touchpad settings... So please let us know if it worked, and if not, how did you solve it :wink:
