Intel x3100 and opengl solved

Postby halp on Fri Apr 17, 2009 10:24 am

I have some problems using opengl with my x3100 graphics card. If I use glxinfo the only thing I get is:
Code: Select all
name of display: :0.0
Segmentation fault

Ive been told I need to update drivers and/or xorg server.

Is there a problem with opengl and this card?

Thanks.

I think you should not use the default intel driver but rather the mesa one
Code: Select all
gksu gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

In Section Device add
Driver "mesa"
or if you already have
Driver "intel"
change to mesa

No that didnt work too well...

Ok changed xorg.xonf so it looked like this:
Code: Select all
Section "Device"
   Identifier   "Configured Video Device"
        driver "mesa"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
   Identifier   "Configured Monitor"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
   Identifier   "Default Screen"
   Monitor      "Configured Monitor"
   Device      "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

but "startx" gives something like this:
Code: Select all
failed to load module "mesa" (module does not exist, 0)

So the mesa driver is missing/corrupt? What to do now?

Thank you for your help!

edit: I have no problem logging in. "sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg" fixed that problem. What I need help with this driver problem.
edit 2: Look at that! Opengl works during live boot. I think i will just reinstall mint and hope for the best. Luckily i have /home/ on its own partition.
last one: After reinstall opengl is working!
