Speakers a lot quieter in mint than in windows 7? Normal?

Postby grouchpunk08 on Sun Apr 19, 2009 8:53 pm

Hi,
I've had linux mint installed for a little while, and I really enjoy it, but I have noticed that the speakers, when playing music and movies, the speakers are a lot quieter than they are in my windows 7 installation. Is this normal, or is there some kind of volume setting for the hardware that i dont know about? I've looked all over for an answer, but no one else seems to have posted anything about this problem. Any help would be much appreciated.

grouchpunk08,

Oh don't be such a grouch :)

Double click on the speaker on the taskbar, a volume control window will open...

Check to see that the levels for PCM and/or Front are all the way to the top. From then on, the taskbar speaker slider (or media buttons if your computer has them) should be easily used to give a comfortable or in your case, louder sound!!!

God Bless
