[SOLVED] Mouse Jumps to the Middle of the Screen

Sorry If this is posted somewhere, but I didn't find it on google or in the stickies.
Everything works out of the box, except my mouse keeps jumping to the middle of the screen, making it very hard to do anything. This happens on both the live cd, and through some keyboard tabbing skills, I was able to install the full version in which it occurs too.
The mouse in question is a Logitech G5. I've tried moving it around different USB slots and installing all updates available, but it still jumps to the middle of the screen. Unfortunately I don't have a PS/2 mouse to try (I should have on hand, but I don't.)
Motherboard is a Gigabyte P35-DS3P, I don't think any of my other hardware should matter.
Thanks

Does this occur constantly or is it an irregular problem?

Do you have any programs (games, heavy app's,etc) running in the background (when this happens) or is the desktop pretty much idle when this occurs?

Are you running compiz/fusion desktop effects and if so have you tried disabling them?

It would be great if you could borrow another USB mouse and test to see if this still happens....

It occurs constantly, although the timing is slightly different. Sometimes my mouse can make it all the way to the edge of the screen before popping back, but sometimes it just keeps popping back before i can make it to the start menu.
It happens no matter what is/isn't running. This happens immediately after install and on the live cd.
I just tried disabling visual effects and it still does it.
I need to invest in a second mouse, all the other computers in my house are laptops without mice :/

Hi

Do you have a joystick on a usb port?

Disconnect any other usb devices you have, one at
a time (if you have any)

Try going into Bios and "disable usb legacy support" if it is there.

The joystick on a usb port was in fact my problem. I had an Xbox controller wired to a usb plug meant for windows with XBCD plugged in still. Didn't have to disable usb legacy support or anything, just unplugged and it worked fine. I can't believe I didn't try this, although to be honest it was plugged in on my front USB and I forgot it was there.
Thanks for the assistance :)
