You said you were "messing around" and "doing stuff"... could that include installing new, different video drivers?
Without knowing exactly what you did, or your hardware this makes this a pure guess, but if you did install a new vid driver, I would suggest uninstalling that one and reinstalling the original....and then do a re-start.
