ata1: comreset failed (errno=-16)

This is an error I get when I push the power but to take Mint 7 out of suspend. The PC will eventually resume, but it takes a while, I also notice it takes a long time to load home on a log in, much longer then Mint 6 did.

I found this as a bug in Ubuntu: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/164183

I assume we need a software update to fix this?

Well the bug you link to is from 2007 so it is probably not relevant
Also all hits in google I find is from before mid 2008
But this is probably the "area" where a lot of resumes fail - not that it helps...

I remember reading something about this and I think it has something to do with looking for a floppy drive at startup. Try disabling the floppy drive in the BIOS and see if that gets rid of the error. You can always change it back if it does not work. It's worth a try anyway.

I disabled floppy in bios, but I still get the error, the desktop still loads slowly after the error. I will get an ata3 also, if I have a cdrom in the drive. Never had any of these problems in Mint 5 or 6. I have a Dell Dimension E310.
