Logitech AudioHub USB Speaker

Postby Iterator on Sun May 31, 2009 8:52 pm

I am currently running Linux Mint 7 Universal. I tried to connect my Logitech AudioHub USB Speaker and I get this buzzing noise coming from the speaker. I tried it on every USB port and on the LiveCD and in an actual install. I still have the problem.

I found this via search:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=41517

After experimenting a bit with the kernel USB configuration, the noise went away when I unselected
USB_EHCI_ROOT_HUB_TT and USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED at "Device drivers - USB support - EHCI HCD". I think it is the latter option that made the difference. This was on kernel 2.6.25.4. Although marked experimental, both seem to be selected on Arch kernel26. On older kernels (2.6.20-2.6.24) you may have to select USB_EHCI_SPLIT_ISO, but there I am just guessing.

Now my question is...how do I do this in Mint? I can't find any Device Drivers program to change anything. Is there any way I can apply this fix to Mint?

I don't think there is a counterpart to this in Mint
Run lsusb and lspci (l is a lower case L) in a terminal and post here, might give something

Somewhat old and aging hardware but nothing revealing - you forgot lsusb, post that too

Strange - I don't see any Logitech speakers
What is this?
Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle
Not the speakers via bluetooth?

Redid lspci and lsusb in viewtopic.php?f=49&t=26764#p156283 now they have it when the speakers are plugged in.

Cambridge Silicon I would assume is the built-in bluetooth.

Please don't edit your old posts - it becomes hard to follow the progress
Recompile the kernel is the way to use the solution you found over at Arch
Another solution is to add this to your /etc/asound.conf for all users or /home/your_name/.asoundrc for just you
Code: Select all
pcm.!default {
        type plug slave {
                pcm "hw:1,0"
                rate 44100
                format S16_LE
        }
}

If the file does not exist create it
I am not at all sure if it works, but some working solutions (compiling the kernel) can be found here
