sorry if this has been spoken about before...

i have been playing around with this ONE problem for atleast 6 hours... and now i get to ask a question before i nuke my system for some damn reason...

well i play WOW... the frame rate wasnt that good in the old edition... but it worked... so... i thought... hay... something new... let's upgrade... and so i did... and so i WISH I DIDNT...

so the upgrade went according to plan... no problems...

then the reboot...

NO VIDEO... i get to the point where GDM should be loading but nothing... the screen flashes 3 times and then nothing... the system is frozen... HARD... nothing responds... except it will sleep... but ctl+alt+del does nothiing..... cant go into consol... nothing... just... nothing...

so i have had a fun time editing the X11 config file to no avail... btw... i heard someone talkin about booting into run level 3 for mint... how do i get there so i dont have to boot to Backtrack 2 to make changes...

so every thing i have tried gets me nowhere... i have tried finding the config file for vesa... doesnt work... tried loading old config files... doesnt work... i was able to get into mint ONE time... with a config file i found here in the forum that i wasnt able to find again and everything worked fine... and while there i d/l the new ati driver loaded and restarted... which broke everthing AGAIN... so... damn...

what to do... i cant but an image cause i only have ONE cd rom that im using to boot to... so? help... what do i do next!?!? i will be watch this tread till i get anwsers for the next 5 hours... PLEASE... Help!!!

ATI have dropped support for your graphics card as of February (in windows too), so if you need wow at best fps, you need to stick with felicia for now. Keep checking out the next versions when released though, to check for improvements to the opensource driver, e.g. Mint 8 Helena this autumn. If the worst comes to the worst, mint 9 is likely to be LTS (and available just as felicia loses support), and with another year of development on the driver, is likely to perform much better than it does now.
