As we can see its found it all ok. Right, first of all the device ID 2040:5500 is as i have found out the same hardware as 2040:5510.
2040:5500/5510 is Siano hardware. The sms1xxx will support the Siano and the Hauppauge WinTV MiniStick. I'm still a bit of a noob so havent got too much of an idea how to install these drivers. Any ideas on what to do?

Here is a few helpfull websites

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

Searching for the USB ID or sms1xxx does not bring up anything even remotely newbie friendly -you may find a way to pull the driver from a git tree, something even I don't want to do
But take a look at the MythTV Ubuntu Installation Guide
There are links to hardware info and you might find your card there

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
