Wifi troubles

I am seriously getting tired of getting my internet from a very long ethernet cable. I am running gloria from a flashdrive on my hp compaq presario c700. can somebody please help me get my wifi working. i tried getting the drivers from hp.com and installing them with ndiswrapper. i also used the "3rd party drivers" app that came with the distro and it said it was installed but not active like confused so if anybody can help me please help yourself cause im pulling my hair out over here :evil:

I had similar troubles when I first started with Mint. I have an Hp laptop as well.
