Hi. I have installed Gloria on my old Compaq PC. The program works nicely, but I cannot get the DVD working. I thought I had read that there is a good multimedia package with Gloria, but I am unable to find that info on the installation disk I burned. Maybe someone who knows can help me. But, back to hardware, and getting the DVD to work.

I entered a terminal command, lspci, and here is what I have:

00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8363/8365 [KT133/KM133] (rev 81)

00:03.0 Modem: PCTel Inc HSP MicroModem 56 (rev 02)

00:14.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C586A/B/VT82C686/A/B/VT823x/A/C PIPC Bus Master IDE (rev 10)
00:14.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82xxxxx UHCI USB 1.1 Controller (rev 10)

00:14.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 AC97 Audio Controller (rev 20)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc. ProSavage KM133

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Hi

Could you be a little more explicit when you say you can't get the dvd working. Does the drive mount? Does the software open when you insert a dvd?

The standard installation of Mint Main GNOME has Totem that will play commercial DVDs.
