Suggest a Laptop -

Postby NaN on Tue Jul 14, 2009 11:16 am

So, I'd like a new laptop, one that will run Mint to it's best. I typically lean toward Lenovo laptops; sometime a samsung, like the samsung netbooks. I would love to hear what you you guys have had the most success with and/or the highest opinion of. I will be using this for programming, so screen resolution is sorta important to me. Gotta see those lines of code ya know.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

If price doesn't hurt, take a look at the Thinkpad W700 series. 17" widescreen display with up to NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700 1GB discrete graphics.

There are a few, based on quality of device
Solid case, eg magnesium or quality plastic
Portability (weight), work or individual aspects
--netbooks or desktop substitutes or gaming machine ?
    Quality keyboard
Separate video card, that could be upgraded
Preferably no specialized or propriety devices (thin-frame optical drives etc)
Some brands that might meet those requirements;.
    Thinkpad/lenevo
    Dell
    Others..your choice
