Sound Problems!

Postby ljp123 on Sun Jul 19, 2009 5:27 pm

Hi!
I've just installed Linux Mint the other day, and I love it :D !

But I try to play my music... and nothing comes out. I can hear the login sound, and I can also hear sound from Audacity, and when I press "Test" in sound preferences, I can hear the tone, but I can't hear anything from other applications. In Volume Control the output device says "Null Output". I have a HDA-Intel Conexant CX20549 sound card, and a Compaq Presario V6000 laptop.
Help?

Thanks.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I had a similar issue. I installed Linux Mint, everything worked fine, and then a couple of restarts later it listed my audio hardware as "null output" or something.

Strangely enough, I fixed the problem by going into sleep/hibernation. I set my laptop to sleep, but it failed to wake up. I then did a hard reboot (by holding down the power button), and when the system started up again sound was magically working. I have no idea why this worked - but it did!
