ALSA/OSS conflict?

Postby jlr1701 on Wed Jul 22, 2009 5:38 pm

Hey everybody,

Thanks to the following post, I was able to get my Sound Blaster X-Fi XTreme Gamer sound card working in Mint, sort of:

viewtopic.php?f=49&t=29519

But... I get no bootup sounds or sound from Gnome MPlayer or VLC. The sound in the default movie player works, but it gets stuck repeating a loop of sound. Could this be caused by a conflict between ALSA and OSS? If so, how do I fix it? Should I remove OSS?

Thanks,

Jeff

Thanks for the link, but as a Linux newbie it's over my head. :(

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Jeff
