Freeze after hibernate

I've noticed that sometimes if I put my desktop into hibernation mode I will get a spontaneous hard freeze (screen freezes, mouse and keyboard no longer respond) usually in the first couple hours after I wake up my PC. It doesn't do it every time, usually 2-3 times a week and I probably put my system to sleep an average of 10 times per week.

I have been running my system without putting it into hibernation mode for almost two weeks now and have not experienced a freeze.

It seems to only do it when I have Firefox open, but I have Firefox running 95% of the time. Could this be related to Flash or audio drivers?

I am running Mint 7, an 8500gt video card with the latest Nvidia drivers, on an ECS 945GZT Motherboard (intel 945gz chipset)

I understand your concern but this is a problem that is hopeless to solve
All intermittent errors are hard nuts to crack and this is way too intermittent...
I'm not trying to escape, not at all, but we'll never crack this nut :)
However it you make systematic studies and find a pattern you are welcome back

Gee thanks. Any news of power management improvements coming to Linux, Debian, Ubuntu or Mint? And advice on getting an error report or log or something to submit for evidence?

My gut tells me it's an audio issue with the Flash 10 plugin. Maybe after something major happens to either one of those I will try hibernation mode again.

There is an ongoing work on hibernate/suspend all the time
dmesg after the freeze would be interesting, but that can't be done :)
I can only say look in the logs - anything hinting something not working OK - there is a "unified" search in the log viewer
