gampad/joystick HOW?

Postby TacoMe on Thu Jul 30, 2009 2:39 pm

Greetings,

neeext. oh my gosh, I'm running from one problem to the other. :D

How do I setup a gamepad (gravis grip pad) or a joystick (2axis, 4button)? Both are gameport connected
I've already tried this howto:
http://onlyubuntu.blogspot.com/2007/03/ ... ad-or.html
but I just can't get my pad/stick to show up in jscalibrator. It always says:
Could not access the specified path(s), verify that the path(s) are specified correctly and that you have sufficient permission to access them. Also make sure that the joystick in question is actually connected, turned on (as needed), not in use by another program, and that the joystick driver or module is loaded .(type 'modprobe <deiver_name>').

but the modules are loaded and the pad/stick is plugged in correctly.

pls help!

I can't remember a question about gamepads, there may have been some but.....
Can you run lsmod and see if the gameport module is loaded
lsmod | grep game
should find it

"grip" is the module for my gravis gamepad

the folder "/dev/input/js0" or "/dev/js0" doesn't exist.

I should have given you this link long before, but sometimes you think too "narrow"
You seem to know a bit so I hope you can at least make something out of it
Without a gamepad I can't experiment and I find strangely enough not much useful info about this
