HPOffice jet not printing---I don't know why [SOLVED]

Postby goldstar1 on Sat Aug 15, 2009 10:47 pm

My HPOfficejet 5610xi is installed on a windows xp computer---so it is networked. I have all the latest drivers installed on my Ubuntu 9.04 64 bit box, it has found the printer, installed the drivers, sends a test page, a window pops up saying the test was successful and the printer begins BUT... no paper with any writing on it actually comes out of the printer. I went online and tried the latest driver from HP people, still no paper comes out of the printer.

Can anyone help me get my printer to print?

By the way..The printer does work on my networked Vista box and on the XP box too----So to me that means the printer works.

Also, It does the same thing on Mint 32bit Gloria

Thanx guys in advance

device for HP-Officejet-5600: smb://MSHOME/COASTAL/HPOffice
device for Print_to_PDF: cups-pdf:/

Give this a shot:

This is for an XP box so make whatever changes to the path to convert it into Vista:

Go to the Control Panel > Printers and Faxes
Right Click on the Printer > Properties > Ports tab
Uncheck "enable bidirectional support"
Please add a [SOLVED] at the end of your original subject header if your question has been answered and solved.

That worked... Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

But what in the world does "bidirectional support" mean?
