MP BIOS bug

Post by mzsade »

"MP BIOS bug: 8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC". How long do we have to live with this, obviously the people at Canonical are too busy with planning a new revolutionary release every 6 months to bother about this. Won't you please do something about it? I have already tried the option of upgrading my BIOS (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=33842), didn't help. Using the 'noapic' option in grub is not really a solution, just a workaround. I will always be left with the feeling that i cannot utilize the full capabilities of my computer, as long as this bug exists. :(

Ask the member 67GTA if he can help you with a new DSDT file

MP BIOS bug

Unfortunately there isn't a fix yet for this bug. It isn't connected to the DSDT. I explained it here with the possible workarounds. http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=33760

Oh! and i was all set to fix it with your DSDT tutorial (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=33999). I am already using the 'noapic' option in my grub and living with 'half-a-computer', so my request to Clem still stands. I can only imagine the complexity involved and know that my demand is unreasonable, but then Clem, it's all your fault--for letting Mint users get so close to perfection and raising their levels of expectation. :)

Could you please look at this and help me with my DSDT (http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=33999)? I have got tons of ugly stuff in my /dsdt.dat and don't know what to do about it.
