That sucks.

I hope you can get it sorted out.

On your original issue with installing the catalyst 9.3 drivers,
you may require kernel headers/source and build essentials.

Run these commands in terminal

To install build essentials

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install build-essential
To install kernel headers

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install linux-headers-`uname -r`
To install kernel source

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install linux-source
good luck

Hi

Glad it worked out.

Mint is based on Ubuntu, and this walkthrough looks like
it might let you achieve your goal.

Good Luck, and let us know how it turns out.
I am sure you are not alone in your desire to play that game.

Hey guys the solution isn't working for me. I am needing the same exact driver. I did the kernel headers and all that first because I figured I would just do that so it will work. Well after I did all that and downloaded and tried to run the install it still gave me the same error so I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or what.

Hey guys the solution isn't working for me.
ati drivers for your graphics legacy of the category (less than hd) do not work more in modern linux distributions.
will have to buy a hd or settle for free drivers

Thanks for the info, that really sucks. I didn't think my card was all that old though. It's a sapphire ati x550xtx and I THOUGHT it was fairly new. But the weird thing is the new PCLinuxOS works with my card great, I am not sure about other Linux distros but Mint so far is the only one that hasn't worked with it.
