Looking for a Mint5 super hero! (Drivers for HP Mini)

Postby pjsmetana on Sat Dec 05, 2009 3:39 am

I bought an HP Mini 110-1030nr for my wife for Christmas. She is very used to using Mint 5, so decided to install it on this HP and get it setup for her before I give it to her. (I tried Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.10 on this thing 1st... man is that a ball of frustration!)

Mint 5 (long term support) installed and runs smooth as silk. ~7 seconds start time and Nearly instant screens. But...

USB (wont mount, but will power. None of my wireless USB dongles startup, but their lights flash)
Wireless, LAN, Bluetooth (do not work)
SD (wont mount)
and so on... are there but do not work. Clearly I need drivers.

So how do I go about getting just 1 of these things to activate so I can get all the others working through it?
My wife loves Mint 5 LTS :D

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

I know that if your burning Mint5LTS to disk, you have to use the lowest speed, but I ran this from a USB... would this make any difference?

Also, I'm wondering if I downloaded a fresh copy of Mint5LTS would it be different from the year+ old Mint5LTS disk I burned. Would a fresh copy have all the new drivers and updates already installed?
