Mint is installed, running, and stable (thumbs up here). Sound is working as far as the speakers, however, I have never been able to figure out how to enable, test, or configure the mic input. I am really wanting to get this working as I desire to leave the Windows world permanently and game in Linux. I use Ventrilo (comm software) while gaming, and this one piece is the only thing that keeps me in the windows world. This is an Asus P5NSLi motherboard, with Nvidia video card, and the ADI SoundMax chipset on the motherboard. I see two options if I am not able to configure and get the mic working onboard:
1) install a real sound card that is Linux Friendly -- probably the best option
recommendations appreciated
2) install a USB headset that is Linux Friendly
recommendations appreciated
Cedega install is coming as soon as this last hurdle is overcome, and Microsft will become a nightmare of the past.
