Has any found a fix for this? I've tried a number of other Linux's and they behave the same. My speakers are also 7.1 - Creative P7800 Inspire and both work under XP.

I have given a working solution for Audigy here:

I believe that will work for Live 24 as well
If that does not help search for Creative Live and mark "Search for all terms" You'll get about a dozen hits mostly useful ones.
