I am running Mint 7.0 (Gloria) and my laptop battery won't charge. I have a Jetta 7860. It has an AMD processor and a VIA Chipset. At one point I had installed Ubuntu 8.04 on the laptop and the battery was charging. I had troubles with Ubuntu wireless drivers and changed to Mint. My wireless works but not the battery. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

AFAIK, the OS has little or no connection to the battery charger except as a monitor. The charger should work any time the computer is connected to an AC source, even if the computer is off or there is no Operating System installed.

Sounds like you have a hardware problem that just happened to occur coincidentally with your installation of Mint.
