Re: PLEASE ON MY KNEES BEGGING!!!
If anyone knew the answer they would have posted it. Unfortunately microphone issues seem to be common in the current releases. It was thought Pulseaudio was to blame in the GNOME release but KDE doesn't by default use PA so if you're still having the same issue perhaps it's deeper than that in the alsa subsystem. One thing you could try is installing the alsa backports (updated versions of alsa libraries)
and update your kernel which are level 5 updates in mintupdate.
After you restart you should have the newer alsa modules installed.
Code: Select all
sudo apt-get install linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic-generic
After you restart you should have the newer alsa modules installed.

Re: PLEASE ON MY KNEES BEGGING!!! [SOLVED]
Found this on another forum.
1. Open sound preferences by right clicking sound icon at bottom of screen
2. Go to OUTPUT tab - yes output!!
3. Set balance to far right or far left
4. Microphone will now work
5. Will need to check/reset each time you use e.g. Skype
