Intel HDMI trouble!!!

Post by xuvert »

Hi everyone!!!

i want u to know that i'm new using linux and i'm fascinated with Mint, is the first distribution that i test and it's amazing!!!!

the installation was very easy, the interface is great and the colors are nice.

The only problem that i have is that when i connect my laptop to my LCD screen, the image looks great but the sound is in the laptop speakers. I have tried changing the hardware at sound preferences to "Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output" but then, there is no sound. I have checked the devices at Alsamixer and it suppose to have volume, so i don't know where is the problem....

i hope someone can help me, here is some info about my computer:

I'm not sure if it's the same on laptops, but I know on my ATI HDMI card, there's no option(that I've found) for sound, so I had to run a cable to my tv(stereo to RCA) and that's how I get my sound, I also use a stereo extension cable so I can hot swap the speaker connection in case I need/want it from the PC

hope that helps

thanks for ur answer!!

well i've tested my HDMI card on windows 7 and it supports video and sound perfectly, so there must be some way to make it works in mint.

besides that i think that it's only a bad configuration or something like that, cause in the sound preferences it's visible the option for the HDMI Output.....

anyone could help me?

thanks a lot
