EZcap DC60+ USB install help needed. (Given up)

Post by Mad_Sunday »

EDIT

I gave up on this device because even the people who said they had one of these working were only getting video, ie no audio. See my other post to see how I eventually got an EASY working system to capture analogue video WITH audio here.........http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=55754

This device is really cheap (around £12 or $20) on ebay, gets good reviews and is supported in the Linux Kernel. Installation is not straight forward tho as it gets wrongly identified in Ubuntu (and so it seems in Mint). I have found these instructions that give a tutorial (for Ubuntu) but I'm having this error problem...

make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.31-14-generic’
make: ctags: Command not found
make: *** [driver] Error 127

The error seems to relate to not having the VI text editor installed but I do have VIM installed.

There's also stuff at http://rrw1000.blogspot.com/ But this uses a different approach and identifies the device differently?

Regards, Pete

Just discovered that the above "tinkering" has left my hauppauge PCI DVB-S card reported as "not connected" in Kaffeine. Looks like I messed up big time :(
