cannot connect with RTL8139

Postby blakcshadow on Sun Apr 04, 2010 4:01 am

I am running Mint7 (xfce edition) and I am unable to get my PCI ethernet card to work. The chipset is RTL8139 (its a D-Link card).

I have rebooted the machine a couple of times, still no luck.

I have attached screenshots of the

lspci -vvnn command (the last entry)

and the modprobe -l | grep 8139 command

I am unable to connect to my wired network, despite the green light on the ethernet card.

Have you checked Hardware Drivers to see if there are any available? Do you have connection via cable to download any if so? Do you get any errors in dmesg relating to your wifi card as otherwise it seems to be initializing ok. If you left mouse on the network icon on the tray do you see any networks? Otherwise more information required as per the forum rules, see http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=53&t=1085 and http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=33561

P.S. you don't need to post screenshots, you can copy and paste from the terminal.

I posted screenshots because I have no internet access at all on that machine.

Its not a wifi card, its a wired ethernet card

I dont have any errors from dmesg.

As it turns out, I was using etho0 in wicd instead of eth0, silly me!

Does that mean it's working now? If so can you mark your OP as solved.
