Poor You Tube HD streaming

Post by Tomtompiper »

Sorry if this has already been answered but I am finding You Tube 1080P videos choppy and they were fine in Windows 7. I have a HP Dv6 laptop with AMD dualcore M520 processor and ATI 4200 graphics, I have installed the latest ATI drivers and they seem to have improved things slightly, but HD Videos are still unwatchable. I really don't want to use Windows, but unless I can sort this out I will have to.

Try installing the adobe flashplugin package if you haven't already. In terminal:

Code: Select all

apt remove flashplugin-nonfree && apt install adobe-flashplugin
Other things you can do include disabling Desktop Effects in Appearance Preferences to see if that makes any difference.

I have already done this, and Compiz is on the lowest setting, the machine could handle Aero and HD in Win7 at the same time so I do not think it is a problem of lack of CPU or GPU power.
