I'm trying to sync my Palm Pilot with little luck...help

I would think you need to run gnome-pilot, I think it is in system>preferences

Assuming it tried to run the setup like mine did, you may have to change the cradle setting to something like usb 0 or 1 or something like that. Mine wouldn't sync form the default settings, but took off after I changed that. I can't get the setup dialog back up to get the exact wording, but I know it had to do with the cradle setting.

I have successfully synced my Palm m130 on Mint 3.0 (livecd) with both gnome-pilot and jpilot by typing the following in a terminal:

Code: Select all: sudo modprobe visor

Then I use the port settings /dev/ttyUSB0 for hot syncing. This is my first post and I'd just like to say that I'm really enjoying Mint!

Thanks for the kind welcome! Well, I've finally gone and installed my first Linux distro! It was a close choice between Elive and Mint... (the reason I chose Mint is because it's slightly more polished, IMO.) I'm still tied to Windows XP as I've set up a dual boot. Maybe that will change in the future...

Back on topic, I figured out how to set up my Palm m130 to hot sync after installing Mint 3.0, as it wasn't working as well as the livecd boot.

Open up the terminal and type:

Code: Select all: gksudo gedit /etc/modules

And add the following line to the bottom of the list:

Code: Select all: visor

I have found that my PDA has syncing problems with many distros, but I believe this fixes most of the recent Debian type distros. Incidentally, the Palm syncs with no problems using Debian 4.0 or Elive.
