The units that is used to measure disk space in linux and windows is different,
In windows it's GB, linux is GiB

uhm that kinda doesn't answer my questin sorry but its good to know. I was wondering if there a way for linuxmint not to take so much on my hardrive just for an install
Re: Hardrive space linuxmint
What I meant was the 543 GiB you see free in linux is actually:
543*1.074 = 583 GB free which is not much different from 587 free when using windows
