Help with Avermedia TV card needed

Post by Luke0419 »

I have a Dell GX270 desktop running Linux Mint 9 (32 bit) with a PCI card AVerMedia Hybrid TV/Radio (A16D-C) – the card was previously working under Windows XP before moving the whole machine to Linux.

The following data shows that the PCI card is recognised but no signal is delivered when a channel scan is undertaken in Kaffeine or TVTime. TV signal is available to other tuners in the house on the same cable. An external aerial also produced “no signal”. Kaffeine shows the video device as a Zarlink MT353 DVB-T

Is there some additional configuration needed to make the TV tuner work or is it unsupported ?

I notice that the tuner card does appear here http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=21980

Re: Help with Avermedia TV card needed

Post by Old Ruler »

As there are multiple requests for a firmware file reported in dmesg, it's likely it doesn't exist. I found an Linux TV article which mentions the specific firmware file here:

http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Xceiv ... e_Firmware

Even if that's for a different card, I guess it must have the same chip set to require the same firmware file, so if you can extract it using the method outlined there, it should work.
