Epson V300 scanner seems to work fine
Epson V300 scanners are currently available for < $100 US, and Epson claims that they work with Mint, so I got one and finally got around to installing it today. I was guided by the third post at http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1000341 . However, unlike that poster, I found xscan seems to run OK.

Good to know, why not head over to the Mint Community pages and submit a hardware report so that people can benifit from this easier? http://community.linuxmint.com/
