Hi, I formatted an 250 GB external hdd (Trekstor xpress) via partition manager, neither my notebook (Linux Mint 9) nor another windows computer cant detect it anymore.
Am I forced to change the file system to FAT/msdos in partition magic or is there any way to recognize the hdd in Mint?
Thanks

Re: external hdd not detected
Windows wants it to be a master boot record as fat or ntfs. Linux will take it how ever it comes. Linux is less shallow and more accepting of our uniqueness. Menu=>system=>disk utility=>select the external hdd=>mount device. If you use Nautilus you can click the link shown and access the drive. Otherwise go to file system/media and you should see it there. Happy hunting.
