Sound on and off and printer problems

So I'm back again. Again with the sound. So my soundcard worked yesterday when I tried the default alsa driver option. But today it doesn't, how come?? It's totally unfair :p Can't I get it to work all the time?

I also have another question, I have a Brother 1430 laserprinter, but I can't get it to work, any suggestions anyone? God, I hate being a newbie

after some fiddling I tried to remove 1 of the soundcards, which had a good effect, I have sound again. But the printer still doesn't print.
