Xorg broken [SOLVED]

Post by j0eh4x »

I'm the kind of person that likes to have the newest and best of everything which is why i used linux mint :)
It is also why i decided to install the nvidia 9800M GS linux drivers from nvidias website
Now when I try to boot I get a failed kernel module error, and drops to a terminal Basically i broke my Xorg configuration.
My question is there a way to make this work? and if not, how do i get it back to normal
thank you in advanced,
EDIT: im running Mint Julia

If you boot or "drops to a terminal" as u say, try to run:

startx

Ive tried that, thats when i get the failed to initialize Nvidia kernel module,

Since i posted I've tried restoring the backup stored in /etc/X11/
by removing xorg.conf and renaming xorg.conf.back to xorg.conf
but still when i type startx im getting failed to initialize nvidia kernel module
