HP Laserjet P1005 on Mint 10 - install OK but no printing

Hello all.
I just switched to Mint 10 after a broken update attempt with Ubuntu 10.10. So far, its been great! It feels a lot faster than plain Ubuntu.

There is one thing, though. In Ubuntu, my HP Laserjet P1005 printer worked like a charm, out of the box. With Mint, I see that it was installed OK, but when I send anything for printing, I got nothing. The printing job appears in the queue and then it is gone as if it was printed, but of course it wasn't.

Any hints on this?

i found this topic, http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.p ... 05#p285715 but it seems I shouldn't have to go through all that, specially since it used top work fine in a previous Ubuntu.

Please type in a terminal / konsole:

dmesg

first with printer not connected, then again with printer connected and at last after sending a file to the printer. I don't know if it will help, because I never had printer problems with hp 2180. But the output of "dmesg" should show some details - it's a protocol.
