Hi all,

is this card supported on Linux Mint 10?

Code: Select all

01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 [GeForce2 MX/MX 400] (rev b2) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. AGP-V7100 Pro
Flags: bus master, 66MHz, medium devsel, latency 32, IRQ 10
	Memory at ec000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M]
	Memory at e0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M]
[virtual] Expansion ROM at ed000000 [disabled] [size=64K]
	Capabilities: <access denied>
	Kernel driver in use: nouveau
	Kernel modules: nouveau, nvidiafb, rivafb
?
I've no receveid any proposal of installing proprietary NVIDIA driver for this..
Thankyou!

I do not know is or is not supported but if Linux supports it in general I believe you can get it to work by running the sgfxi program from http://smxi.org

I would use nouveau driver with those really old nvidia cards, the support is dropping and becoming spotty with the legacy nvidia non free drivers, just stick with nouveau and accept that you are running a very old legacy card.

Your system should be defaulting to nouveau anyway, to make sure, do:

grep -i nouveau /var/log/Xorg.0.log

and it should show either null / empty or a bunch of items.

If it shows nouveau running, just leave it alone, you can't get much better from the non free, and they aren't reliable anymore for those really old cards in my experience.
