3d affects, never been ale to run them in any linux system on my computer, which is a laptop Hp pavilion dv8000 running as far as I can tell an ATI Radeon graphics card must be a mobile one I suppose has always shown effects not available or crashed the display, is this me or is it the ATI card, I saw mention of ATI being supported in future in envy? will this work for my card love to experience these effects. No technical answers please just an ignorant point and click GUI user, and Mint is just the best system my family now hate it if they want to use the computer and find I have dual booted into XP for a graphics program (paint shop pro X2) just wish I could get this for Linux, Gimp just not cut it for me.

Linux Mint is funded by ads and donations.

There are two versions of Hp pavilion dv8000 one with Intel and one with AMD + ATI
This makes it hard to find solutions...
But if you have the ATI it's a 200M which may be tricky to set up with 3D see
http://www.ensode.net/ati_radeon_xpress_200m_linux.html
However the new drivers mentioned here
http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/viewtopi ... ver&t=6207
should work and can be installed with the new envy when it's released. If it solves the problem in the first link I don't know

Don't fix it if it ain't broken, don't break it if you can't fix it
