There are two versions of Hp pavilion dv8000 one with Intel and one with AMD + ATI 
This makes it hard to find solutions...
But if you have the ATI it's a 200M which may be tricky to set up with 3D see

However the new drivers mentioned here

should work and can be installed with the new envy when it's released. If it solves the problem in the first link I don't know
