Newbie question! Intel driver

Post by andycolh »

Hello.

Just installed linux mint 11 on my compaq presario all in one pc.
My graphic card is a intel gm3150 chipset.

My problem is that my screen is not good to watch.its make me dizzy.
and the max resolution is 1024x768 4:3.
But my screen should handle 1386 and its a widescreen.

Can someone help a newbie like me please?

netbook has this GPU

worked fine

Update the kernel to 2.6.38-10 final

go here

https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/natty/

your looking for

linux-image-2.6.38-10-generic

linux-headers-2.6.38-10

linux headers-2.6.38-10-generic

install all 3 packages for ether x32 or x64 based on your OS.

Wont hurt to use synaptic and select reinstall for the intel drivers after ether.

once ya download them.

Install them in this order

linux-headers-2.6.38-10

linux-headers-2.6.38-10-generic

linux-image-2.6.38-10-generic

Install them by right clicking on them and run in gdebi package handler.

Hit install and enter your sudo password.

once done with all 3 packages, restart.

then enter synaptic package manager found in administration and type in Intel

right click the install packages and select reinstall. Hit the check mark or apply and once done, close and restart.

Now to try and enable 3D/opengl

system/preferences/ compiz config settings manager.

Guru, I have never tried kernelcheck and noticed this in the box as it is compiling = echo module does not exist. It is now finishing. Do you know what that is and if there is something I need to do prior to rebooting? Thanks! I have never seen kc before and am very intrigued by it.
