Only half of RAM is recognized.

Windows sees 2 GIG of RAM and Mint sees only 1 GIG of RAM on Compaq Presario V6066EA laptop..

That's really odd
Please post the specs of that laptop - it's not possible to find it on the net as the same model can have completely different hardware
Not that I really think it's hardware but anyway
Is it two modules?
One may be a bit deficient, but again......

Ok i think i made a mistake. I used windows task manager to read the memory. it sais in dutch on the right bottom "total memory" 2400 mb. but i figured this includes virtual memory!
